STADIUM REDEVELOPMENT UPDATE
Everything is on course for work to begin on the redevelopment of the Memorial Stadium at the end of the 2007/08 season.
The decision to delay the start of the work has allowed us to make sure that every aspect of the design has been fully considered.
People have been working very hard behind the scenes to make sure we deliver a top quality stadium for both fans and the local community.
The section 106 legal agreement - which is a vital part of the planning agreement with Bristol City Council - has been agreed by all parties and is due to be signed in the very near future.
A 106 agreement puts in place certain conditions - some of them financial - which the club has to agree to as part of the ground's redevelopment, and includes setting up a residents' parking scheme to operate on matchdays and a Stadium Monitoring Group to bring together club and surrounding community and others to work together on issues such as transport, parking and anti-social behaviour.
We will now begin work in May 2008.
We aim to be away from home for an estimated 18-month period while all four sides of the Memorial Stadium are re-constructed to provide an all seated capacity of 18,500.
The development also includes space for student rooms, a hotel, a convenience store, restaurants, bars, executive boxes, corporate facilities, office space, a crèche, gym, community police station and sports injury clinic.
