Danny, a central defender, began his career with Bristol City and went on to feature in148 league games, scoring six goals, during his time at Ashton Gate.
He was named Young Player of the Year in 2002/03and looked set for a promising career with the other team in Bristol
He joined Hull City, then managed by former England U-21 boss Peter Taylor, in July 2005 for a fee of £200,000 but after a promising start to his career with them, he suffered a serious knee injury in September 2005 and missed the remainder of the 2005/06 season. He returned to first team action in October 2006 and was a regular in the side until the following March.
Unable to reclaim his place in the side, he moved to Hartlepool United on loan in October 2007 where he was reunited with his former Bristol City boss Danny Wilson.
Following his one month loan spell at Victoria Park, he returned to Bristol, signing a three month loan deal with Rovers. This became a permanent move when he signed a two and a half year deal in January 2008.
Danny made his league debut against AFC Bournemouth in November 2007 and scored his first goal for the club in the FA Cup Third Round tie against Fulham, at Craven Cottage, in January 2008.
His first league goal came against Port Vale on 2nd February 2008 and he also scored in the FA Cup quarter final tie defeat against West Bromwich Albion.
Injury ruled Danny out for all but five league games in 2008/09, but he went to the USA for an extensive rehabilitation programme in the summer of 2009 and came through a strenuous pre season with no ill effects.
He went on to make a total of 36 league appearances last season, and experienced no problems with his knee and he will once again be looking to be a first team regular again this season.
A tough tackling defender, Danny can also play in midfield or at full back and his versatility is an undoubted advantage to the side.
