A central midfielder, Charlie was originally with Aston Villa and was unfortunate not to have been offered a scholarship with them.
On his release he joined Filton College and did very well in youth team football.
Charlie made good progress in the reserves last season, and was on the bench for our two First Round FA Cup ties against Leyton Orient. He made his league debut for the club when going on as a second half substitute in the game against Carlisle on 29th December 2007.
Whilst he is at home in a central midfield role, he can also play wide on the right. He is a good passer of the ball, is very fit and, technically, he is a very good player.
He signed his first pro contract for the club in the summer of 2007.
