A central midfielder, Charlie was originally with Aston Villa and was unfortunate not to have been offered a scholarship with them.

On his release he joined Filton College and did very well in youth team football.

Charlie made good progress in the reserves in 2007/08, and was on the bench for our two First Round FA Cup ties against Leyton Orient. He made his league debut for the club when going on as a second half substitute in the game against Carlisle on 29th December 2007.

Charlie spent a short loan spell with Solihull Moor in the 2007/08 season.

He had to wait until the final game of the 2008/09 season, against Hartlepool United at the Memorial Stadium, to make his full debut.

Having got that vital first start under his belt, he was looking to build on that last season. However he had quite a wait but, after making nine substitute league appearances his patience was rewarded as he started the final four games of the season.

His hard work, and his performances, saw him given a new two year contract before the end of last season.

Whilst he is at home in a central midfield role, he can also play wide on the right. He is a good passer of the ball, is very fit and, technically, he is a very good player..
