Craig joined the club in the summer of 2004, but his first season at the Memorial Stadium was hampered by injury and illness and he appeared in only 28 league games, ten of which were from the bench, during that campaign.
However, he showed that he had an eye for goal, as he chipped in with four and created a number of others for his colleagues.
It was a different story in 2005/06, and his career blossomed following the departure of former manager Ian Atkins. Restored as a regular to the starting lineup by Paul Trollope, he appeared in 42 league games and scored eight goals.
In 2006/07 he appeared in all but one of the 62 games played by Rovers and his consistent performances contributed, in no small way, to the club's success.
He enjoyed another fine season last time around and, in terms of goals, the 2007/08 was his best yet, as he finished with a total of nine.
Craig joined Rovers from Mansfield, where he had been a product of The Stags youth set up. He made his league debut for Mansfield in their 4-0 win against Shrewsbury in September 1999 and made a further five appearances during his first year as a pro.
There were 36 appearances during a successful promotion campaign in 2000/01, when he scored seven goals. Although their stay in the Second Division lasted just one season, Craig appeared in all but four of their league games and also scored four goals.
The Stags reached the play off final in 2003/04 and Craig was a member of the side beaten by Huddersfield at the Millennium Stadium. He returned to Cardiff as a member of the Rovers side beaten by Doncaster in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final in 2006/07 and was in the side that clinched promotion that same season by beating Shrewsbury at Wembley in the play off final.
Craig signed a new two year deal in the summer of 2006, which was extended by a further year, and that will keep him at the Memorial Stadium until the end of the current season.
He's probably best described as a 'box to box' player. Although he prefers playing in a central midfield role, he has often been used in a wide position and when a
5-3-1 formation was used in a number of games last season, his superb fitness and quick thinking enabled him to settle comfortably into what was essentially a new role for him.
