A strangely lethargic performance from Rovers saw them slip to their first away defeat of the season today.
Although they took a 36th minute lead through Chris Lines, the home side were on level terms before the break and a stunning winner from home substitute Jon-Paul Pittman sealed Wycombe's first win of the campaign
After a lively start Rovers fashioned the first chance of the game when Jeff Hughes picked up on a clearance from Stuart Campbell's corner and lashed a shot towards goal only to see it blocked by a packed home defence.
At the other end goalkeeper Rhys Evans making his second league debut for Rovers, nine years after his first, dived to his left to keep out a shot from Ian Westlake.
Rovers then forced three corners in quick succession before Matt Phillips fired a shot high over the bar.
The same player then drilled a shot just wide of the upright, but it was Rovers who took the lead with 36 minutes on the clock.
Danny Coles headed a Stuart Campbell corner on to Lines, and he rifled the ball past former Rovers keeper Scott Shearer from close range.
The lead lasted just ten minutes, though, as Wycombe equalised when Matt Phillips cut in from the left and rifled an unstoppable shot past Evans.
The goal lifted the home side and they took the game to their visitors for the remainder of the half, without really creating any serious threats to Rovers goal.
Craig Woodman fired over the bar early in the second half, while Evans was quick off his line to deny Stuart Green a shooting opportunity.
At the other end Byron Anthony saw a shot blocked at the expense of a corner, but the home side should have taken the lead on 65 minutes when Luke Oliver headed wide with the goal at his mercy.
Jeff Hughes saw a free kick drift just wide of the upright and Anthony's header from a Campbell corner was easily gathered by Sharer before the home side scored what proved to be the deciding goal.
With ten minutes of the game remaining, substitute Jon-Paul Pittman turned on the edge of the box and hit a stunning shot past Evans into the roof of the net.
Rovers tried desperately to get back level terms but the closest they came was in time added on when Jo Kuffour's looping shot cleared the bar.
