Rovers began 2009 with a deserved win after coming from behind to beat Leyton Orient at Brisbane Road this afternoon.
Summer signings Jeff Hughes and Darryl Duffy scored the all-important goals, cancelling out Adam Boyd's 56th minute header that had given the hosts an unlikely lead.
Rovers bossed the first half in terms of possession, but Glenn Morris wasn't a particularly busy man in the Orient goal.
Craig Disley failed to test the goalkeeper after being played clean through, and Hughes blasted an early effort narrowly over the Orient crossbar.
Jo Kuffour volleyed wide after latching on to a long ball over the top, before the home side's first effort on goal saw Ryan Green make a brilliant block on Boyd's goal-bound attempt.
Charlie Daniels struck a low shot into the side-netting on another rare Orient attack, before Rickie Lambert fired a superb free-kick just inches over the goal.
The final action of the first half saw Hughes try his luck on goal from the left, but his right-footed attempt went well wide.
The second half began brightly for Orient, and a series of early corners and sustained pressure eventually brought about the first goal of the game.
Sean Thornton delivered a fine corner into the Rovers box, and an unmarked Boyd rose highest in the box to nod the ball past Steve Phillips.
The goal brought the home crowd into life, after what had been a fairly quiet hour or so of football previously.
Darryl Duffy was thrust into action not long after Orient had taken the lead, and it seemed to make the difference for Rovers going forward.
After a period of prolonged and menacing attacking play, Rovers were back on level terms with 15 minutes of the match remaining.
A Lambert effort on goal was parried by Morris, and Hughes was alert enough to steal in and slot the rebound home.
Having grabbed the equaliser, the visitors then continued to press in search of another goal, and the 700 or so away fans didn't have to wait long to see their team ahead.
Duffy was played through on goal, and as Morris came out in an attempt to narrow the angle, the striker just managed to prod the ball past him and into an unguarded net.
Boyd fired a late effort over for Orient, but Phillips was a spectator for the most part in the closing stages.
It was just the kind of result Rovers needed to begin 2009 with, and sets up a busy few weeks in January and February nicely.
