Mikkel Andersen has extended his loan spell with Bristol Rovers for another four months.

The new loan will keep Mikkel at the club until January 4th.

The big keeper is currently in Denmark with the U21 squad, who take on Lithuania in a friendly match on Friday afternoon. But Rovers are exploring the possibilities of getting him back in time to play at Oldham on Saturday.

Manager Paul Trollope told bristolrovers.co.uk: "We are delighted to announce we have extended Mikkel's loan until the January transfer window.

"He is a player who has given us good service and we are pleased to keep him at the club a bit longer.

"He came to us at the start of the season on a month's loan, but we were unsure of the future possibilities, because of the situation at Reading.

"We are delighted that Reading today agreed to extend the loan, and we hope Mikkel can continue the progress he showed last season, and produce the performances we know he is capable of over the next few months.

"He is currently over in Denmark with the U21 squad and will be playing for them on Friday. We are currently exploring possibilities to try and get him back in time for the Oldham game."

The keeper became a firm crowd favourite at the Memorial Stadium last season. He made 39 appearances for the club after joining on transfer deadline day last September.

He rejoined the club on loan at the start of August after Rovers were forced to cancel Luke Daniels' season long loan deal following a back injury.

The 21-year-old, who stands at 6ft 5in, became the youngest ever goalkeeper in Denmark's top flight when he lined up for AB Copenhagen.

He signed for Reading in 2007 and has had loan spells at Torquay, Rushden and Diamonds, Brentford and Brighton.
