Darryl Duffy today joined Scottish Premier League side Hibernian, in a year long loan deal, which takes him to the end of his current contract with Rovers.
Speaking of the move at the training ground this morning, manager Paul Trollope said;
"It's been well documented that we would listen to offers for Darryl. He's worked hard through pre season, and shown up pretty well in games and in training, but we said that if it was a good offer for all parties that we would consider it.
"We feel that this offer is a good one, so he's joining Hibs on a one year loan and we wish him well up there.
"It's his home up there, and he's being reunited with a manager he knows well from his time at Falkirk, so it gives him a fresh start.
"Obviously he's been frustrated with the lack of first team starts here, and the fact that we have now brought John Akinde into the squad could well have meant that he was pushed further down the pecking order."
The striker, who moved to the Memorial Stadium in the summer of 2008, began his career in Scotland, with Rangers, and also played for Brechin City (loan) and Falkirk before moving to Hull City in January 2006.
He enjoyed a brief loan spell with Hartlepool United before signing for Swansea City in the summer of 2007 after spending the last two months of the 2006/07 campaign on loan with the Welsh club.
In his first season with Rovers Darryl scored 13 goals, though he was unable to repeat that feat last season and netted only three goals in 30 league appearances.
He joined Carlisle United, on loan, in February of this year but he was recalled in April and was in the squad for the remaining fixtures of the season, scoring his last goal for the club against Leeds United in the final game of the season.
His Rovers career has taken in 66 league appearances, 33 of which have been from the bench, and 16 goals.
He has also scored three goals in seven appearances in cup competitions.
His last appearance for Rovers came on Saturday, when he replaced Charlie Reece in the game against Southampton.
He travelled up to Edinburgh on Saturday evening, had a medical with Hibernian on Sunday, and trained with his new teqam mates this morning.
