PARK SCHOOL GO SO CLOSE IN COMMUNITY CUP
![]()
On Friday 23rd April Leyton Orient's Matchroom Stadium hosted the Southern Area finals of the Football League Community Cup; and Park Primary School from Kingswood were Bristol Rovers' representatives.
The six-a-side tournament began in March when Park Primary won our local competition against 11 other schools from around North Bristol and South Gloucestershire.
All sixteen "southern" League One teams competed in the group stages of the tournament, which was split into four groups of four.

In our group we beat Norwich City 3-1 thanks to two goals from Jacob and one from Ollie, then defeated Yeovil Town 2-0 with goals from Cash and Ollie again. In the final game against Southampton it finished 0-0 and we won the group undefeated to qualify for the Semi Finals.
Hosts Leyton Orient unfortunately defeated us 3-0 in the Semis, but the game was a lot closer than the scoreline suggests.
Exeter City were up next in the 3rd Place Play-Off and although Cash gave us a 1-0 lead we couldn't hold on and lost 2-1. One goal came from a Rory Delap-esque long throw which got a little nick before going in!

Wycombe Wanderers beat Leyton Orient 2-0 in the Final and will now represent the south against Oldham Athletic who won the northern section of the competition at Wembley before the Millwall v Swindon Town League One Play- Off Final on the 29th May.
Rob Tromans, Football Development Officer at Leyton Orient Community Sports Programme, said: "The day was a huge success and exceeding the expectations of all the organisers. The most important thing of the day was that every single kid loved it".
