Bristol Rovers fans will be attempting to break a World Record at the Memorial Stadium tomorrow.
Groups of Gasheads will be coming together before our match against Norwich on Saturday, to try and break the Guinness World Record™ for the largest gathering of Pirates, and we need your help.
Bristol Rovers will be offering everyone who takes part in the Pirate World Record attempt a £10 voucher off a match ticket for next season.
And anyone under 16 who dresses up and attends the event will be given a voucher for a free ticket (terraced areas and South Stand only) to a selected game next season.
The vouchers will be eligible for use at selected games next season, which will be confirmed when the fixtures are announced in the summer.
Not only that, Bristol Rovers will be supporting the BUI's Prostate Cancer Appeal at this weekend's event.
The appeal, based at Southmead Hospital, is not only seeking to raise public awareness, but also fund vital research into improved diagnosis and treatment of the disease.
Prostate cancer affects 35,000 men each year in the UK and causes over 10,000 deaths, almost as many men as breast cancer affects women.
And people who come along will have plenty to keep them entertained. Pirate Pete, from Bristol's famous Pirate Walks will be at the World Record attempt to help entertain the crowd.
Pete, who takes locals and tourists arund Bristol's pirate hotspots, will be holding a fancy dress competition with a host of top prizes.
He will also be signing copies of his limited edition book Swashbuckling Tales, with profits going to the nominated charity for the day - The Prostate Cancer Appeal.
Seb Miller from JungleTalk will also be attending and bringing along a couple of parrots to make any Pirate outfit complete and the Long John Silver Trust will be holding a Teasure Island Competition.
There will also be a selection of Pirate tunes playing, a BBQ to make sure no one goes hungry. and hopefully a few other top competitions and special guests.
And if you are planning to take part in our World Record attempt, but don't have all the gear, then why not pop into the Memorial Stadium and pick up some accessories from the club shop or you can simply visit BRFCDirect right now.
We are currently stocking pirate hats, bandanas and inflatable parrots to get you on your way!
