TROLL'S YEOVIL PREVIEW

Posted on: Fri 19 Mar 2010

Paul Trollope is hoping to start another winning run when his side take on Yeovil tomorrow.

Rovers have only picked up one point from the last two games, and the manager is hoping to get some points on the board to keep the season interesting.

He told bristolrovers.co.uk: "We are not happy with the position we are in and we would like to maintain a challenge, which would mean picking up points quickly in the next few weeks.

"On the other hand, we are not looking at defeats through the winter and wishing what could have been, if you do that in football you quickly regress.

"In terms of now until the end of the season, we want to quickly get some wins on the board so it makes it an interesting end.

"It is becoming a harder task as the weeks go on, but the spirit in the group is good, the performance level has been ok. But the wins are everything now, and that will be the aim tomorrow."

Rovers lost 2-1 to Yeovil earlier in the season, when they failed to deal with some set pieces. Trolls hopes his side can travel to Huish Park tomorrow and make amends.

He said: "It was a frustrating afternoon, we felt we deserved to win the game, unfortunately on the day, our defending of set pieces was abysmal.

"We have worked long and hard on them and it has not raised it's head many times, except for at Exeter on Wednesday night.

"We are looking for the win because it is the next games and because we are disappointed with one point from the last two games and we want to get back on track.

"We realise that games are running out, there are a lot of clubs in our position that are thinking we need to get our act together, and if we are going to go on a run it is going to have to start now.

"We have been a bit frustrated over the last two games, we have dominated large parts of the game and only came back with the one point from the two.

"It is about points at this time in the season, not how much possession you have and how you force teams back.

"It is about being good at both ends of the pitch and we managed that against Swindon, and that is why we won the game comfortably.

"In the two games since we have tried to keep that form going, I think there has been some good aspects of our play, but in both boxes we have not been good enough.

"We need to make sure we get a continuation of some of he football we played, but find that ruthless streak in and around the box, to do the right things, make good decisions and get shots off on target."

The manager could stick with the same team for the fourth game in a row, as the team are all fit.

Trolls said: "We have got a few bumps and bruises, but we work hard and long on injury prevention and rest and recovery strategies.

"We will be going into tomorrow's game with the same set of players."

And Trolls had some words of praise for Yeovil manager Terry Skiverton.

He said: "The recruitment there has been good, he has moulded it quickly how he wants it. Last year it was a survival task, and he came through that, and he has got his recruitment bang on this year.

"They have made some good progress in the league, and as ever we will go there with a lot of respect.

"We are aware of what they have got and what they are about. We are looking to build on the second half performance at Exeter, making sure that if we get comfortable in the game we don't play comfortably and just let things happen.

"We want to grab it by the scruff of the next.

"Huish Park is usually a good surface, a local-ish game, hopefully we will take a good support, as we did to Exeter the other night.

"Everybody knows the importance of the game, we need to get back to winning ways. Our good run has come to an end, so we want to start another one tomorrow."
