Bristol Rovers have been awarded the Performance of the Week for their victory against Swindon.
Rovers beat The Robins 4-0 at the County Ground last Saturday, with goals coming from Jo Kuffour, Paul Heffernan, Chris Lines and Jeff Hughes.
The League Managers Performance of the Week panel were all in agreement that this week the award should go to Rovers.
The panel is made up of LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry,
The victory against our local rivals and play-off hopefuls Swindon resulted in us winning the F&C Performance of the Week Award for the first time this season.
Manager Paul Trollope received a specially engraved crystal football in a presentation to be screened on Sky Soccer Saturday on 13th March 2010.
On receiving the trophy he said: "I accept the award on behalf of the players who performed to a very good level on the day. It was a good win in a local derby and one we are proud of. We went there with a game plan and the players carried it out to the letter.
"We were aware of their threats, they have been in fantastic form and we had not been on great from away from home. We defended well and were devastating on the counter attack, which led to a good win for us.
"We are getting goals from all areas at the moment, which is always pleasing. We have been on a decent run in the last couple of weeks, and we are looking forward to the next three games in order to try and push ourselves towards the play offs.
"Performances have been improving since Christmas, we have never lost faith in what we do away from home, and that result has just reminded what is possible for the group and now it is up to us to continue that and keep producing it on the road."
Trolls hopes that the team can now use that result to push on towards the play offs.
He said: "We are looking to close in on the play offs as quickly as we can. We have got most people fit now, which we didn't have a month ago, which is a big thing for us.
"We are a small squad, but we have said all along that when everyone is fit we are a match for most teams in the division.
"Keeping everyone fit will certainly help us, we need to pick up wins quickly in the next few weeks to push us close, and if we get into April time in touch, then a run at that time in the season can see you in there.
"We have got a belief within the group, we are not shouting from the rooftops, but we are going about our business and taking it one game at a time."
What is quite unique about the result is that Paul's father John Trollope still holds the record for most career league appearances at one club, being 770, at Swindon Town from 1960-1980.
