Rovers have signed Doncaster Rovers striker Paul Heffernan on a one month loan deal.
The forward joined up with the squad today and will be available to play tomorrow night, subject to the registration forms going through.
The Republic of Ireland U-21 international is probably best remembered, by Rovers fans, for scoring Doncaster's the second goal against the Gas in the 2007 Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final at the Millennium Stadium.
Paul came to the Memorial Stadium today and spoke to bristolrovers.co.uk. He said: "I discussed the deal at the back end of last week.
"I spoke to Lennie and Paul and we discussed that when the window opened again I would come back down on loan for a month, and I am delighted now that I am down. Initially it is a month and we will see how it goes from there."
"I had a year down here at Bristol City about five or six season ago, but I hope fans wont hold it against me if I can stick one in tomorrow night.
"I have been with Doncaster five years, but I am out of contract in the summer so it may be time to move on.
"I think I have plenty to offer Bristol Rovers. I have been sitting on the bench up at Doncaster for most of the season, so I want to get out and prove that I can still score goals at whatever level because you are soon forgotten about in this game.
"I want to be playing every week, and the manager knows that and he was good enough to let me out.
"If it goes well for the club and for myself there is always an option to extend it for another month or for the rest of the season, so we will see how it goes."
And Paul recognises a lot of the current squad, especially former team mate Danny Coles.
He said: "I know Colesy as he was at Bristol City when I was there, so it was good to see him again. I have played against a lot of the lads through the last few years, so I knew some of the faces.
"They helped me settle in well and hopefully we can do the business tomorrow night. I cannot wait to get the game on and get off to a good start, hopefully win and it will be a bonus if I get a goal.
"There are nearly two games a week while I am here, there are a lot of games to be played and hopefully a lot of points to be picked up.
"I think I am reasonably match fit, it may take a few game to get 100 per cent sharp, but I am ready to go."
Born in Dublin, Paul began his Football league career with Notts County, whom he joined in 1999 and in five years at Meadow Lane he scored 35 goals in 100 league appearances.
In July 2004 Bristol City secured his signature for £125,000 but he spent just one season at Ashton Gate, scoring five goals in 27 league appearances.
A move to Doncaster followed, in June 2005, and again a fee of £125,000 was involved.
He top scored for the Yorkshire Rovers in 2006/07 and picked up the Player's Player of the Season Award at the end of that campaign.
To date his Doncaster career has taken in 122 league appearances and 35 goals, the most recent of those appearances coming against Middlesbrough on 26th January.
Paul has also played four games for Oldham this season, during a loan spell at Boundary Park.
Director of Football Lennie Lawrence said: "Paul is an experienced striker with Championship pedigree and was Doncaster's top scorer last season.
"We are delighted that he has joined us on loan for the next month, and if things work out well there is a chance it could be made into a more permanent loan.
"We are hoping that there will be one other further signing to follow in the not too distant future."
Chairman Nick Higgs said: "We are pleased to welcome Paul to the club, he has got great experience and will provide some much needed competition up front."
He has been allocated squad number 9 and will be included in the squad for tomorrow's game against Walsall.
