EXTRA TIME - WEEK 1

Posted on: Fri 23 Oct 2009

On Tuesday we had our first ever Extra Time session here at the Stadium and we were delighted with the turnout with a great mix of people, ages and abilities.

The morning was a very relaxed introduction to Extra Time with a meet and greet so that everybody could get to know each other because within the group we had a number of people who had never met before, and there was lots of fun and laughter throughout the morning.

Followed was a short stadium tour which everyone enjoyed, learning about the dressing rooms and stadium development.
We finished off with a friendly game of skittles which threw up a few surprises! Ken the dark horse getting an impressive 7 on one throw, and John was the butt of the jokes failing to hit any skittles from three rows which wasn't bettered much by his Nan Brenda who only managed 3 from 3, must run in the family!
Final score was a resounding victory for Roy's team over Bernard's team.

Extra Time - Week 1

Extra Time is new project for us, lasting for 30 weeks. By working in partnership with South Gloucestershire Council and The Alzheimer's Society, Bristol Rovers' project is looking to engage people aged over 60 and people with dementia in weekly physical and social activities in Bristol and South Gloucestershire.

We intend to offer a variety of mentally, physically and socially stimulating activities that will look to enhance people's agility, balance and coordination, as well as muscle strength and mobility.
