Bristol Rovers Football in the Community is delighted to announce that we have secured funding for a social inclusion project for the next two years called On Target.

The funding has come from the Football League Trust and will allow us to offer the estates-based project in Henbury on Friday and Saturday nights for 48 weeks of the year starting Friday 7th August.

On Target is a leading project of the Football League Trust and is intended to offer football as a deterrent to young people who may be at risk of committing anti-social behaviour, and we are very excited about the opportunities that this project offers.

The scheme will take place at the Brentry Lodge Youth Centre in Henbury and if you are reading this and are aged between 10 and 16 and are interested, just turn up and play.
Each night is split into two sessions. 6.30-8pm is aimed at 10-12 year olds, whilst 13-16 year olds will play from 8-9.30pm.

Upon hearing that we had been awarded the funding Community Officer Peter Aitken had this to say: "We are looking forward to the challenge as this is a new area of work for us as a community department, and I'm sure the experience will be beneficial to us, not only as a department but also as individuals; and I hope that the knowledge and experience that we can pass onto younger people will have a long term benefit for them in their future development. Finally we must thank the Football League Trust who have been instrumental in making funds available for this project, and I'm sure it will make a difference."

Community Board Trustee Ken Masters also said "We are delighted to have been awarded this funding, and to be able to work with young people in Henbury in the evenings. We prepared the original bid over a year ago and we have been working hard to secure the funding ever since, This is further evidence of a growing and successful community department at Bristol Rovers."
