Paul Trollope said the manner of Friday night's 2-1 home defeat against Scunthorpe United was disappointing and frustrating.

The first team coach felt his side were worthy of a point against The Iron, but praised the visitors for their professionalism in winning the game.

The defeat ends a run of three consecutive home victories for Rovers, and Paul knows it's important to learn from one or two errors that may have proved costly.

"I think we probably deserved a point from the game," Paul told bristolrovers.co.uk, "We knew they were a very good side going into the game, but in the first half we were a real threat.

"We hit their bar, we had a shot cleared off the line, so to go in one down from a deflected free-kick was disappointing.

"We wanted to start the second half positively, and we did that. We got the equaliser we were looking for after a good bit of football from us, but the spell immediately after our goal was very frustrating.

"There were some poor decisions from us, we should have passed it rather than kicked it, or kicked it rather than passed it, and in the end their goal stems back to us not doing the right thing on the halfway line.

"There were a lot of things in the game that we need to look at and address, particularly in the spell between our goal and their second goal, because that was crucial.

"We knew they would be a tough test for us, they were well organised and professional, and some of the decisions they made once they went 2-1 up shows that they know how to win a game of football.

"If you want to be up there, you need to know how to win matches and what to do and not to do and key points in games. That is something we can learn from teams like Scunthorpe, because they did it well.

"Credit to the boys because they had a right go, and we showed against one of the top sides in the division that we are nearly there. But it's still frustrating coming off the pitch having lost, when you know you should have got something from the game."
