Train and bus operator FirstGroup plc are the new sponsors of Bristol Rovers' Football in the Community schools coaching scheme.
Rovers' experienced Community team, led by ex-captain Peter Aitken, will go into local schools and provide top-class football coaching to around 6,500 children over a 30-week period.
Children will be given lessons on the skills and fundamentals of football, as well information on lifestyle issues of health, well being and a balanced diet.
The Bristol Rovers schools coaching sponsorship is part of FirstGroup's First for Football programme which involves nine other Football League clubs in the south west region.
Bristol Rovers Board of Directors are thrilled to be working with the FirstGroup to provide quality coaching to thousands of local children.
They said: "We would like to thank the FirstGroup for sponsoring our community coaching scheme. With their support, we will be able to enhance the success of our community programme, and help us to continue the quality work we are already doing in schools across the city of Bristol.
"As a club we consider it extremely important to work with local children, to teach them vital health and life skills alongside their football coaching.
"We are delighted to be working with the FirstGroup, and hope it will be a long and successful partnership."
FirstGroup Chief Executive Sir Moir Lockhead said: "We feel it is extremely worthwhile to support Bristol Rovers' community scheme with youngsters from the region.
"Through our First For Football initiatives, we will be helping thousands of children understand the importance of fitness, a healthy lifestyle and education."
In May this year FirstGroup sponsored a Junior Soccer Tournament at Swindon Town's County Ground stadium. The one-day event attracted 800 young players supported by around 3,000 cheering parents!
First for Football is one of a number of sponsorship packages set up by FirstGroup. Examples include the First Monster duathlon - a 120k team-based running and cycling event around Loch Ness each September and a deal with UK School Games where FirstGroup are the official transport provider for the athletics finals.
