Byron Anthony hopes Saturday's trip to Huddersfield Town will see him make a return to the Rovers starting 11.

The defender hasn't started for the Pirates since being sent off against Walsall earlier in the campaign, having first missed out through suspension and then through team selection.

Injuries to Steve Elliott and Danny Cole appear to have paved the way for Byron to find his way back in the side, and it's a chance he says he's not going to let pass.

"It's never nice to see someone get injured, but I think when I came on against Leyton Orient I did ok and hopefully well enough to be given a chance this weekend," Byron told bristolrovers.co.uk.

"It's not nice being sent off like I was against Walsall, it was a poorly timed tackle, but they happen in games.

"You've got to deal with it, I've put it behind me now, and I'm ready to kick-start my season again.

"We were on a bad run at the time, so who knows whether I would have kept my place or not.

"But now if I do go back into the team it gives me a chance to put right what went wrong.

"There's a lot of competition for places here, Craig Hinton has come in and done well, and shown that whoever performs knows they'll keep the jersey.

"That's what I have to do this weekend, and if I do that then hopefully it'll be enough to keep me in the side for the next match."
