MEM TO PLAY HOST TO CHARITY RUNNER
The Memorial Stadium will be one of 13 grounds being used as part of a charity fun run.
Peter Mansfield, Britannia Building Society's head of affinity, will, within 24 hours, run one mile at the ground of each of the 13 football clubs that Britannia has a relationship with.
Peter will start the challenge at 7am on Monday 13th October at Ipswich Town FC's Portman Road stadium and will finish at 5am the following morning at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland.
Along the way, Peter will also visit; White Hart Lane, Stamford Bridge, The Emirates Stadium, Ashton Gate, The Britannia Stadium, Old Trafford, Goodison Park and the City of Manchester Stadium.
Peter said: "I expect this to be a tiring but enjoyable day and I hope to raise more than £5,000 in aid of Alzheimer's Society. Support from colleagues and the clubs has been fantastic, many of the club's are opening their grounds especially for me and I will have the company of some of their mascots too."
No stranger to physical exercise, part of Peter's training regime for his 'around the grounds' run included the completion of the Congleton half-marathon last Sunday. Peter was also an army officer in the Royal Artillery prior to joining Britannia in 2001.
During this fundraising year, Britannia is supporting The Alzheimer's Society, the UK's leading care and research charity for people with dementia and those who care for them.
There are 700,000 people with dementia in the UK, with numbers expected to rise to one million by 2025.
