ELLIOTT EYES UP WEEKEND RECALL
Steve Elliott is hoping to give Paul Trollope a selection headache come the weekend.
The defender missed the win at Colchester United, and only featured for five minutes in the scoreless home draw with Crewe Alexandra.
Steve was still slightly sore at the end of last week, but he's expecting to be able to declare himself available for the visit of Leyton Orient.
"I should be back in full training this week," Steve told bristolrovers.co.uk, "We decided to leave it last weekend because I was still a bit sore, and I could have done myself more damage.
"It's had a bit of time to settle down now, so I think as the week goes on I'll do more and more and I should be ok for Saturday."
The injury that forced Steve off against Crewe wasn't especially serious, but it was worse than most dead legs.
"I knew as soon as it happened it was worse than a normal dead leg," he said, "We were two big lads going for the ball, and although sometimes you can run them off, I knew I wasn't going to be able to then."
The Rovers back four has been much changed over the opening couple of months of the season, and Steve says that hasn't helped defending.
"We worked hard in pre-season as a back four, and then Joe Jacobson and Danny Coles got injured, and we had Aaron Lescott and David Pipe playing out of position," he said, "Then Ryan green came back and got injured again, so it's been a bit stop-start.
"Now though we've got everyone coming back, and we're all keen to be involved. Trolls and Lennie have worked on the improving our defending, and it seems to have paid off.
"We changed the formation for the Crewe game with a more defensive line-up, and I was unfortunate that I had to go off after five minutes.
"We look more solid now, Stuart Campbell is protecting the back four, and it seems to be working for us."
