Steve Phillips is set to play his 100th game in Bristol Rovers colours tomorrow afternoon.

The goalkeeper made it 99 not-out in last Saturday's scoreless draw with Crewe Alexandra, and heads to the WHC Stadium hoping for a repeat of that display against Colchester United.

"We've played a lot of games over the last couple of seasons, with the play-offs, the Johnstone's Paint Trophy campaign, and the FA Cup tun we had last year," Steve told bristolrovers.co.uk.

"So it's come around pretty quickly, and it's nice to get to that kind of figure with a club. I know some players who play ten games for a club and then move on, I've been lucky to play for two clubs in my time and overall I'm probably pushing 450 to 500 appearances.

"100 is only a minor milestone though and I take it with a pinch of salt because it only shows how old I am!"

The draw against Crewe six days ago was the first clean sheet of the season for Rovers, and a welcome one for Steve.

"I managed to get in the way of a few shots, but I don't think I did anything too differently," he said, "I think I've been pretty steady all season, and I shall continue to play that way because that's me in a nutshell.

"We've worked really hard in training to stop goals going in, and that showed with the way we played against Crewe and the role Stuart Campbell took on."

Stopping goals going in has certainly been a problem for Rovers this season, and it's not been helped by a series of defensive injuries.

"Ryan Green's going to be out for a while now with his hamstring, Danny Coles and Joe Jacobson have been out, so there have been players out of position and we've had to deal with that," he said.

"I don't think Trolls has had all eight or nine players at the back fit to choose from at any one time, but having said that it shouldn't be a problem for us.

"We've got a lot of quality players and although we have had injury issues, we can't start using it as an excuse."
