Jeff Hughes says he's fit and ready for action this weekend.

The winger, who missed last Saturday's game against Yeovil Town, picked up with a thigh strain against Cheltenham Town the week before.

But having had ten days away from competitive football, Jeff says he's all set to go again.

"I feel ok now," Jeff told bristolrovers.co.uk, "It wasn't anything too serious, just a thigh strain. I felt it at Cheltenham, but I couldn't come off in that game because we'd already made three substitutions.

"I missed Yeovil as a precaution really, if it was the last game of the season I could probably have played, but it was better to miss one match than risk being out for four to six weeks."

The players have been heavily drilled on defensive duties in training of late, an area Jeff believes is bound to get better.

"We've worked on defending a lot in recent weeks," he said, "It's been the theme of our sessions.

"The defence has been the main reason for success here in recent years, and if you look at the back four they're all quality players. As midfielders we need to do more as well.

"I think it's just a blip that we'll all come though, there's a lot of experienced players in our side, so I don't think it's anything too serious and hopefully we can start showing that this weekend."
