Paul Trollope says that hearing criticism is part of the job when results aren't going according to plan.

The first team coach was speaking after being asked at today's press brief whether comments following the recent run of poor results had been difficult to accept.

"It's a results based business and I accept that it comes as part of the job," Paul told bristolrovers.co.uk, "I'm wholly responsible for the team's results, and people will always ask questions when results aren't as you'd like.

"But we feel that with the acception of the Bournemouth game, we've been in every match, and we can take heart from that. I'd be concerned if we'd been beaten conviningly every week, but that hasn't been the case.

"I'm fully confident in the methods we use and the players we've got. We're still short in a few areas in terms of players not being 100 per cent, and the defensive side still needs to be worked on.

"But we feel when everyone is back to full fitness we will turn this around and be the top half team we should be.

"I'll continue to prepare the team with the same methods, and we're still confident in what we're trying to do here."

The 2-2 draw against Yeovil Town on Saturday ended a run of four straight defeats, and it was a welcome outcome for Paul.

"We deservedly got the equaliser, and had a few other bits and pieces gone for us we could have got a winner," he said, "We started the game brightly, we hit the crossbar twice, and we got a result that we feel we can build on over the week ahead.

"There are still one or two players that aren't doing their jobs at the moment, and our concentration in certain situations needs to better. You can work in training until the cows come home, but if players don't convert that into matches then it counts for very little.

"The week ahead is good for us not just in terms of training, but also because we have a good home game at the end of it that we can look forward to. It offers a chance to put right what happened against Walsall and also to boost our league position."

Rovers take on Crewe Alexandra this coming weekend, although the Railwaymen must first do battle with Liverpool at Anfield in the Carling cup.

"Anytime you play a big cup game it is going to take a lot out of you, physically and mentally," he said, "This is a huge game for them, especially as it's at a Premier League ground.

"We expereinced a similar situation after our game against Leeds last month, we put a lot into that match, and then against Bournemouth a few days later we didn't perform.

"We'll watch Crewe at Liverpool and see how they get on, but for us the work has already started to make sure we're ready and prepared to take three points on Saturday."
