A WEEK OF DEFENSIVE WORK - TROLLS
Paul Trollope says his players have a lot of work to do this week in order to iron out their defensive frailties.
The first team coach says that his team must do considerably better at the back if they're to win matches in League One.
Rovers lost 5-4 at Peterborough United on Saturday in a game that saw the Pirates struggle to defend throughout, and Paul knows his team must improve against Walsall this coming weekend.
"We've got a lot of work to do on the training ground to tighten things up," Paul told bristolrovers.co.uk, "It's all well and good creating chances, but you've got to be able to keep the back door shut at the other end.
"We contributed to most of Peterborough's goals at the weekend, and we need to analyse that and work very hard to put it right.
"It's always disappointing to lose any game, but to let in five goals live on Sky adds to the disappointment. Scoring four goals is a consolation in some ways, but in other ways it makes it worse.
"We've had to move things around slightly and change players because of the injuries we've had, and perhaps that showed on Saturday.
"But if you score that many goals away from home then you expect to win the game, and in truth we could have scored more than four."
Although frustrated with his side's defending, Paul has few complaints about the number of goals his team are scoring.
"Our philosophy hasn't changed, we want to pass the ball and attack, but we need to defend well at the same time," he said.
"Over the last few years our defensive strength has played a big part in our successes, and it's something we need to get back to.
"The attacking additions we've made have certainly made a difference, and when we go forward in games we look like we can score goals.
"We've got a free week now, we need to work on a number of things, and make sure that we're ready to go again on Saturday.
"We've bad a run of away games lately so we're looking forward to coming back home. We had a disappointment on the opening day against Carlisle, but we had a great win against Hereford in our last home match and we want to follow that up with three points this weekend."
