Jeff Hughes says the manner of Rovers' victory over Hereford United yesterday afternoon bodes well for the rest of the season.

The winger scored one of the club's six goals in the emphatic thrashing of the Bulls, a result that saw Rovers climb into the top third of the League One table.

"To be honest, five of the six goals were scored were very good, and even Duffy's one-on-one was a good finish," Jeff told bristolrovers.co.uk, "The most important thing was obviously the three points, but the manner of the win was very impressive."

Although not a striker himself, Jeff is still hoping to reach double figures by the end of the season.

"I'm very pleased to get off the mark," he said, "I was getting a bit anxious, so it was nice to open my account.

"Strikers have the most pressure to score goals, but as midfielders you aim for ten goals in a season and defenders should aim for five, and you work towards those targets.

"We do create a lot of chances as a team, and considering we haven't spent that much time together as a settled 11 it looks like we're finally starting to get into the groove.

"Less passes are going astray and by all accounts we're getting fitter every week. I didn't feel as bad this weekend as I did last weekend, so something's going right, although the three points help as well!"

Rovers now face three games on the road, and Jeff is looking forward to what could be a big week for the club.

"We've got Leeds next weekend, then Bournemouth in the cup during the week, and then Peterborough the weekend after, so if we can get a few wins there it could be a very good week for the club," he said.
