WE MUST SHOW PROGRESS - PHILLIPS
Steve Phillips says that Rovers need to demonstrate that progress is being made, by taking all three points tomorrow afternoon.
The Pirates play host to Hereford United at the Memorial Stadium, with both sides looking for their first victory of the 2008/09 League One campaign.
Rovers lost their opening day match against Carlisle United a fortnight ago, but produced an impressive display against Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend to take a share of the points at the Withdean Stadium.
"It's a home game that we're looking forward to, but we've got to make sure we do better than we have done in a lot of other home games of late," Steve told bristolrovers.co.uk.
"The season hasn't got off to the best of starts, but I think with a few new faces that we're gradually getting things together.
"We had a difficult run at the end of last season, and we wanted to hit the ground running this season. It hasn't really happened yet, but we showed at Brighton that we've got a lot of fight and a lot about us.
"In the second half we hit the bar twice and could easily have taken the points on another day, and along with bits and pieces against Carlisle and Watford I think there's room to be encouraged.
"We want to be at the top end of the table this season, Carlisle and Brighton will probably be challenging up there, whereas maybe the bookies don't fancy Hereford to do too well this season.
"We can't afford to think about that though, they're in this league on merit, and on the day it's about us trying to beat them.
"In this division as we found out last season, it's about taking your chances when you get them. Carlisle did it against us and won the game, and we've got to make sure we do the same against Hereford."
