LINES WANTS MEM TO BE A FORTRESS AGAIN
Chris Lines says Rovers need to get back to making the Memorial Stadium a fortress if they are to achieve success this season.
The midfielder has started every game so far this campaign, and hopes to see that record continue against Hereford United on Saturday.
The Pirates go into the match on the back of a 1-1 draw at Brighton & Hove Albion, and Chris knows it's important the team keeps to a high standard of play.
"Lennie said after the game that our performance in the second half was the best we'd played so far this season," Chris told bristolrovers.co.uk, "We need to maintain that level, and play like that against Hereford on Saturday.
"That's a massive game for us now, they haven't won a game this season, but we want to go out there and win - and win well. It's important on a number of levels to get our first win under our belts, and we know how big this match is in terms of shaping our season early on."
Rovers began the season with a home defeat against Carlisle United, a result Chris says the players need to put behind them.
"It's very important that this season we get our home form back to what it was a couple of seasons ago," he said, "Teams used to be afraid to come to our place, we rarely lost there, but last season it was nothing like that.
"Hereford have just come up from League Two, and they'll be expecting a tough game. We need to make sure we carry on from last weekend and produce a performance that wins us the match and the three points."
Chris has been moved to the right side of midfield this season, a position he admits he's still adjusting to.
"At the start of the season I knew there would be competition for places, with Stuart and Craig in the middle and Jeff Hughes on the left," he said, "Playing on the right is something I'm still getting used to, but I'm learning the position and I enjoy playing there.
"There's a lot of competition this season, and that is what every player should want. If you don't have that you end up in a comfort zone, whereas if you've got players behind you it makes you all the more determined to work hard to keep your spot."
