Rickie Lambert says nothing less than the second half display at Brighton & Hove Albion should be tolerated going forward.

The striker believes the last 45 minutes at the Withdean Stadium showed what the players are capable of, and wants to see that level of performance as a minimum as the 2008/09 campaign unfolds.

"The season starts with the second half at Brighton," Rickie told bristolrovers.co.uk, "Nothing less than that performance should be accepted really, because we know and we've shown we can produce it.

"That has got to be our minimum in every game now. We knew before Brighton we could play like that, and we can't afford to let our standards slip.

"I don't think me or Duffy played very well in the first half on Saturday, and we both knew that. We did better in the second half, as did the whole team."

Rickie has scored two goals in two league games so far, but he says it's team results rather than personal targets that matter most.

"It's a good start, but I could have had more than one against Brighton," he said, "The main thing is though the results start to pick up.

"We're pleased to be off the mark, and we know we're not far off our first win. We've had two tough league games so far and we've got one point, and now we need to push on.

"We've got a week without a match so it's a chance to work on some things and to have a rest, so that when Hereford comes around we're ready for them."
