Paul Trollope said today's 1-1 draw at Brighton & Hove Albion was a "satisfying result" in the circumstances.

The first team coach admitted he was critical of his side for their first half display, but praised them for the way they rallied and responded after the interval.

The draw sees Rovers still with only one point from a possible six after two matches of the season, but Paul says that today offers something to build on.

"It was a good point for us," Paul told bristolrovers.co.uk, "To be a goal down after what was a poor first half performance and to come back like we did was pleasing, and it was a satisfying result in the end.

"There were a few harsh words said at half-time, but the performance in the second half was much improved. We saw more urgency and enthusiasm, and players started playing at 100 per cent and not 95 per cent.

"We wanted to see energy and drive and we got that in the second half. There've not been many occasions that we've had harsh words with this group of players, but they were needed today and the response we got was very pleasing.

"It takes a lot of mental strength to come back from a goal down at half-time, and in the end we got the point that I thought we thoroughly deserved.

"Although we came looking for three, it's not an easy place to play, so we go home with a point and we have to be pretty satisfied with that."

Rickie Lambert scored the all-important penalty for Rovers, firing home from 12 yards having twice struck the woodwork in the second half.

"I didn't think the front two were at the races in the first half, we wanted them to pose more of a threat, and I think they did that in the second half," said Paul, "Rickie produced a good display and was very unlucky on a number of occasions, and I think he deserved his goal in the end."

Another player to catch the eye was substitute Ben Hunt, who came off the bench and proved to be a real threat for the visitors.

"Ben has made a good contribution in pre-season, and when he's come on he's shown he is a threat for us," said Paul, "Sometimes young players come through, they catch the eye and produce the goods.

"He caused them problems when he came on, and if he continues to contribute like he has been then I think he'll be looking at a place in the matchday 16 most weeks of the season."

Next up for Rovers is Hereford United at the Memorial Stadium in seven days, a game Paul is already looking forward to.

"One point from six is not something we're particularly delighted about," he said, "But there have been things that have pleased us, as well as things we need to work on.

"We've got a full week of training now, a chance to get a few knocks cleared up and then a good home match to look forward to at the end of the week."
