Bristol Rovers have been praised for their generosity by a very unlikely source.

A Bristol City supporter posting on the official forum has thanked the club for donating two match tickets to a charity raffle.

The fan, known on the forum as Langsmead, wrote to both Bristol clubs asking for a donation and only Rovers responded to the request.

His post on the forum said: "I just wanted to further thank Bristol Rovers for being kind enough to donate two match day tickets to our Summer Fete at our Nursing Home.

"I knew it was a long shot calling the local clubs and would have been happy with anything from a football to a scarf so to get two match tickets for a game that is not all ticket is very nice and puts your club in a very positive image even if I hope you fail miserably this year!

"Would also like to say that my club sadly did not feel they could donate anything which is a shame. So thank you again Bristol Rovers FC. I am sure this will provide so much needed money for our residents."
