Paul Trollope says there is every chance that Wayne Andrews will be a Bristol Rovers player before the start of the season.

The striker is currently training with the Pirates on his road to recovery from an injury sustained towards the end of 2007/08.

Paul admits the club are keen to secure the signature of the former Coventry City man, providing he is in good physical shape as pre-season progresses.

"Wayne is in the late stages of rehabilitation from his knee injury, the one he picked up against Yeovil when he was with us at the end of last season," Paul told bristolrovers.co.uk.

"He's joined us with a view to becoming a permanent signing, and he is of interest to us.

"We beat off a lot of competition when he came to us on loan in March, and although it didn't work out, we've kept in touch and if his rehabilitation goes well then we'll be looking to secure a deal.

"The fact he's here shows he'd like to join us, and if we can sort things out then I think he'll be a good addition to the squad.

"We've got some good strikers here already, including a couple of younger ones we're confident will improve and get better for another year.

"But Wayne brings something a little bit different, and also offers that experience that at times you need."
