Jeff Hughes says that past experiences of Rovers supporters in full voice played a big part in his move to the Memorial Stadium.

The left-sided midfielder has signed a three-year deal with the club, committing himself to the Pirates until the summer of 2011.

"It's a nice club, and a good footballing team," Jeff told bristolrovers.co.uk, "I saw the team play last season, especially against Nottingham Forest when Rovers were all over them.

"I would have signed in January if I could have, but unfortunately things couldn't get sorted out at the Palace end and I had to wait a while. But now that's all sorted I'm delighted to have signed and to be here.

"I remember playing against Rovers for Lincoln in the play-offs last year, and the Rovers fans out-sung the Lincoln fans home and away. I think a lot of the lads were very impressed by that, and to be honest I think one or two were overroared as well.

"It's nice to be at a club with that support. When you come to a club that has its own songs that everyone sings it's something special, because a lot of clubs, especially in the lower leagues, don't have that.

"As a player that's a very big thing, and when you play at stadiums like this you hope one day to experience that every week. By moving here that's what I hope to do, and I can't wait for the season to get underway and to feel that as a Bristol Rovers player."
