Rickie Lambert says Rovers only have themselves to blame for not taking a point away from the Fitness First Stadium yesterday.

The striker scored a consolation in the second half, but it wasn't enough to stop AFC Bournemouth running out 2-1 winners.

"When I scored I was fully confident that we could go on and score another," Rickie told bristolrovers.co.uk, "After scoring we started playing a lot better, but the second goal just wouldn't come.

"It was disappointing that we didn't start playing until we were two goals down, and Trolls was mad at us for that. It shouldn't take that situation for us to start playing, and in the end because of that it was too late.

"We should have scored a second, but the way it's going of late it just didn't come. We gave it our all, and it was gutting at the end to not get something from the match."

Rickie was unhappy with the performance of the referee, who the striker felt didn't have the best of games.

"I can't believe the referee," said Rickie, who believes his side should have been given a penalty, "I don't want to say too much, but it was disappointing to get another one [referee] like that.

"I thought when you kick people in the head it's a foul, and anywhere else on the pitch it would have been given. But because it was inside the area, he didn't give it. I tried to talk to him about it, but he gave me a yellow card."

Next up for Rovers are Walsall on Tuesday night, and Rickie says it's important the players learn from their mistakes at Bournemouth.

"We've got to go there and be solid and play from the start," he said, "We need to not give away any silly goals, and just do what we did in the last 30 minutes at Bournemouth from the start."
