TROLLS CRITICAL AFTER DEFEAT
Paul Trollope was critical of his players for not showing enough urgency in today's 2-1 loss at AFC Bournemouth.
The first team coach said his team didn't get going until they were two goals down, and insisted it was a showing that he didn't want to see repeated for the rest of the season.
Rovers only really looked like scoring in the closing 30 minutes of the contest, but in the end the home side had enough about them to hold out for the three points.
"We didn't get out of the traps well," Paul told bristolrovers.co.uk, "We tried to do things at our pace, we weren't quick enough in our play, and they were 2-0 up.
"After going two down we eventually got going, and sometimes that happens to certain teams who need to go behind before they show what they're about. It's an easy way out for players because they've got nothing to lose and they can chase games.
"We didn't show any urgency, we didn't pass the ball quickly, and defensively we were a yard off it. I've not had to say that many times about this group of players, but we can't let that happen again this season.
"For the first 15 minutes we were ok, as we were for the last 30, but for middle section of the game we were very disappointing and we don't want to see that again.
"It wasn't a good day for us. The results around us weren't too bad, but we shouldn't be in the position when we're looking over our shoulder. The last 30 minutes we started to show a bit more desire, but it was too late.
"You've got to help yourself in games, and that means showing desire from the start. We didn't do that today, and it showed in the final score."
