Steve Elliott is making it clear that he scored yesterday's equalising goal at Nottingham Forest - and not Rickie Lambert.

The defender powered home a second half header at the City Ground after latching on to a quickly taken Stuart Campbell delivery.

But the Press Association - which supplies raw data such as team news, attendances and scorers - to newspapers and media organisations across the world handed the strike to Lambert, something Steve is keen to put right.

"It was definitely mine," Steve told bristolrovers.co.uk, "And being a Derby County fan it was pretty sweet as well! It was a good game of football on a nice pitch, and I think it would have been an entertaining one to watch.

"We still need points because of the position we're in in the league, and we knew Forest would be a difficult place to go. So to take a point is a decent result and from a personal point of view to have scored the goal was also very pleasing."

Forest have been notoriously tight at home this season, and Steve's goal had been worked on in training ahead of the game.

"We saw a couple of goals Forest have conceded this season, so we worked on that in training," he said, "Normally those quick free-kicks are aimed towards Rickie, but I was there that time and it came off!"

There are just six games left before the season is over for Rovers, and Steve is looking for a mid-table finish come May.

"I think the cup run hindered our league campaign, in terms of the number of games more than anything," said Steve, "But we feel fresh again now and back on it, and we're looking to end the season well.

"We still hope to make it into the top half, and Forest away we had down as one of the hardest fixtures left. We look forward to Walsall and Bournemouth now, and if we play like we did against Forest then we should be confident of coming away from both games with something to show."
