Steve Phillips says the players were always confident of a good result at Nottingham Forest last night.

Rovers travelled to the City Ground looking for their first win since the opening weekend of March.

The match finished up at 1-1, but Steve says the players can be rightly pleased with how they performed.

"It was a decent game to play in, and going into it we knew in the dressing room that we would be able to give a good account of ourselves," Steve told bristolrovers.co.uk, "I don't think anyone can argue that we didn't deserve at least a point, and again, it's no coincidence that on a decent surface, we look like a top six side.

"We changed our formation again like we did at Swansea and we created chances. We were glad to get a point, but I think deep down we feel we were capable of taking all three.

"Their free-kick was disappointing because it didn't go in the top corner, but that takes nothing away from the strike. It was a good goal, but when the wall isn't beaten by height and the ball only goes in halfway up, you have to have a look at that on the video to see if there's anything we could do better for next time.

"It was a good point and we would have taken it before the game, but we go to places like Forest believing we can take all three. It's always a little disappointing when we don't do that, but I think we can be pleased with how we played and I thought the boys in front of me were outstanding.

"Wherever we go next season, if the playing surface is as good as Forest's then I think we should be looking to be a top six team. Next season we want to be where Forest are competing, because I honestly don't believe where we are in the table now justifies how good our team is."
