Paul Trollope says the final green light for Rovers' new all-seater stadium is "fantastic news" for everyone connected with the club.

The first team coach will be preparing his squad for 18 months away from the Memorial Stadium come the summer, before heading back to Bristol in 2010 to what will be the West Country's finest sporting arena.

Rovers will play just four more matches at their current home, before the bulldozers move in at the end of the 2007/08 season.

"It's fantastic news," Paul told bristolrovers.co.uk, "There has been a lot of speculation over the last couple of months, and to get the final ok is great news for the club.

"Hopefully now we can make the final arrangements on where we will go for the 18 months - there was a false dawn that we'd be moving at Christmas, but now the timescale is confirmed we can make some definite plans. The sooner that is done, the sooner we can settle into what is going to happen and we can continue to progress."

Although Paul has his own personal thoughts on where might be best for the team to go next season, he knows it would be wrong to publicly trumpet one temporary home over another.

"I would like Cheltenham, Swindon, Yeovil - a lot of places have been talked about but for me to stand here and say I want to go here or there wouldn't be right," he said, "We get consulted and we have said where we feel is best, but at the end of the day there are a lot of other concerns in terms of policing and financial issues.

"So we will accept the decision, but hope that wherever we go has a nice pitch with good grass on it because that could be huge for us. There are advantages and disadvantages over any of those venues, but hopefully now we can start the process of really nailing down where we are going to be."

As well as being important for the players and the management team, Paul knows how big yesterday's announcement by Bristol City Council was for the fans.

"There are a lot of people employed by the club and they will also be wondering what is going on, so it's good to have it sorted for all concerned," he said, "But for the fans, this is a massive thing, and for the next 50 years there will be a fantastic new stadium for them to support their team in.

"The next 18 months or so will be an inconvenience, but when we come back to our new home it will have been well worth it. We need to make sure we continue our progress on the pitch as well though, so that by the time 2010 comes around we're in the Championship or challenging for a place in it."
