JOSH HOPES FOR A BRIGHT FUTURE
Josh Klein-Davies is hoping his Easter weekend will herald the beginning of a bright future with Rovers.
The young striker netted his first goal for the club on his first start in Saturday's game against Huddersfield Town, and looks set to agree a new deal to extend his stay at the Memorial Stadium beyond the summer.
"It was a good start for me," Josh told bristolrovers.co.uk, "I'd played a couple of games from the bench, but the gaffer gave me a chance and I think I did ok. I was disappointed we lost, but from a personal point of view I think I did ok.
"I would have liked to have stayed on for a little while longer, but to be fair I know I need to work on my match fitness so I can last a full 90 minutes at that level. It was a good start for me, and I was quite pleased with how it went, although it was disappointing that in the end we lost the game."
Josh's goal saw Rovers open up a first half advantage over the Terriers, and he remembers the moment well.
"The ball was whipped in and I peeled off my marker as it came towards me," he recalled, "Rickie Lambert flicked it on and I just managed to get on the end of it. It's a feeling you can't describe when you score your first goal, and it was a really good moment for me."
Josh has experienced a number of ups and downs so far in his short career, but he's hoping his time with Rovers will be successful.
"I grew up in St Pauls and was spotted by Bristol City playing local football at the age of 15," he said, "I was at Bristol City for three or four years before I got released, and then credit to my family because they stuck by me and supported me through a very difficult time.
"I was down and it was a bad part of my life, but if your character is strong enough and you have belief in your ability then you can make it. Saturday was just one game, but I think I've shown I can do well and hopefully it's the start of something for me.
"At the moment I'm in contract talks with Lennie and Trolls and there is an offer there and I'm sure I'll take it.
"I know I need to work on some areas of my game for next season, and in football you can't rest on your laurels. You've got to prove yourself in every match you play, and that's what I'll do whenever I'm given a chance."
