Chris Lines says his new two-year deal with Rovers is just what he needs to progress both on and off the field.

The midfielder has signed a contract to keep him at the club until the summer of 2010.

Chris marked the news by scoring in Saturday's home game against Huddersfield Town, and he's hoping his career carries on as it has done of late over the next couple of years.

"I'm really happy that it's all signed now," Chris told bristolrovers.co.uk, "I've signed for the rest of this season and for two more years after that, and that's really good for me to know I'm going to be a part of the club for the next couple of years.

"You never know what can happen during that time, and hopefully it will be as good for me as this season has been.

"At the end of last season I was only given a year, and that's a bit in between what you're looking for. You want a new deal, but you want some security as well, and I think I've got that now.

"At my age you need two years, it's what I need at this stage in my life and it means I can start doing stuff. This season was probably a make or break year for me, and I've got my rewards for working hard by playing regularly and with this new contract."
