Paul Trollope says Rovers can take "a lot of heart" from the 2-2 draw with Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.

The first team coach watched his players surrender a two-goal half-time lead to a second half onslaught from the Welsh side, but spoke of his pride at the final whistle for his team's overall display.

The result extends the run of matches without a win for the Pirates, but Paul says there are plenty of positives to come out of the game.

"Obviously we're disappointed to lose a two-goal lead, but credit to Swansea because they caused us a lot of problems in the second half, and I don't think we've been under that much pressure in a game for a very long time," Paul told bristolrovers.co.uk.

"The second half from them was immense, and in the end it took some very good defending and a lot of resilience to stop them from winning.

"We were really pleased with the first half performance, we had set out slightly differently with Craig Disley playing off Rickie Lambert, and at half-time it was working like a dream. We scored two goals and on another day might have taken a bigger lead going into the break with some of the chances we created.

"But after the disappointment of losing to Huddersfield on Saturday this was a good point, and one we'll take and move on. They've got better players than everyone in this division, and they are comfortably the best side we've played in the league this season.

"We wanted a reaction from the players after Saturday and we got one, and I'm proud of them. Swansea are a quality side, and they are a couple of years down the road towards where we want to be in terms of our progression.

"It was a decent game and we can take some decent things and a lot of heart from it. We've got some big games coming up, and we can be pleased with many aspects of our play against Swansea as we look forward to our next game."
