Paul Trollope was pleased to see Rovers pick up their first ever league point at Huish Park this afternoon.

The first team coach watched his players battle to a hard earned point against Yeovil Town, in what he said were "tough conditions".

"I played the last time we came to Yeovil and it wasn't a pleasant experience so to come here today and not get beaten was a good start," Paul told bristolrovers.co.uk.

"The wind blowing straight down the pitch was a huge factor in the game. I came to watch Walsall down here a few months ago and the conditions then were very similar and had a huge influence on that game but we went with it in ther first half to try to gan an advantage.

"We were OK in it and pushed them back for spells but we didn't pass it as well as I would have liked. You can't go too long too early with the wind or else things fizzle out. We needed to improve our passing and movement and we did that, funnily enough, against the wind.

"When we turned round Steve Phillips produced some good kicks which got us up the pitch and we started to pass it a little bit and created a few chances but in terms of an away performance we have to be pleased. It's a clean sheet and this is a tough place to come and they have had some good results at home lately so we will take the point and move on.

"We looked a threat from set pieces and their goalkeeper made good saves either side of half time and another from Stuart Campbell's free kick and we had a good bit of play where Rickie Lambert played in Chris Lines and he saved well with his legs. He played well, but it wasn't a game in which there were a huge number of chances at either end.

"Steve had one save at the end which he pushed away but with the wind against us and the players they have in their team and the threats they have I thought we handled things very, very well. We defended with good discipline, a good spirit and a good resilience which you need to do away from home. We came with the intention of getting three points to kick us on up the league but we didn't get it, we got one and that, allied to a clean sheet, we have to be pleased with.

"Wayne Andrews has damaged his knee ligaments. I think he turned their centre half and was just about to go away and he's been fouled from behind and his knee collapsed under him. It's not looking good at the moment and we'll assess it and speak to Coventry over the next few days. As it looks at the moment, though, he'll be out for the rest of the season.

"It's been a long search for a striker and we have had a lot of knock backs and a lot of things go against us which meant we haven't got people in but we knew we had a player in Wayne. He showed little glimpses of quality and pace which is why we brought him in and it's disappointing to lose him, but Josh Klein-Davies came in and gave a good account of himself. He held it up well and looked a threat so it's a chance for the younger players now.

"We needed someone to come in and give us a spark and unfortunately it doesn't look as though Wayne is going to be able to give us that now but opportunity now knocks for the younger ones who perhaps were disappointed in the week to see him come in.

"We've already started to look towards next season in terms of personnel and most players know whether they are going to be here or whether they aren't and we've loaned Sammy Igoe out and a few have been left out of the sixteen today and that will continue to happen.

"We need points to get up the league, we are aware of that and we aren't happy with the position we are in. We need to win a few of our games in hand and need to get up to mid table where we think we should be but we will look to shape it and look where we are with regard to next season and starting well then.

"Jeff Hughes wasn't involved today because it was a last minute thing on Thursday and he wasn't geared up in any way to come so to be fair to him, and to us and our players, we said he should come down on Monday and at the moment it looks as though he will play for the reserves on Monday night and then hopefully be available next Saturday."
