Paul Trollope has apologised to supporters after this evening's League One game against Northampton Town for his team's lacklustre performance.

The first team coach was left fuming at the final whistle with what he described as an "unacceptable" performance and "criminal" lapses.

The match finished all-square at one goal each, but Paul was far from happy at the point his side collected.

"It was a home game and a game we wanted to win," Paul told bristolrovers.co.uk, "We're disappointed to only get a point, and the players know the second half was unacceptable.

"The first half there were a few bits of sloppiness that led to them having some chances and hitting the bar, but we had a few attacks ourselves and scored a good goal.

"But it was a very poor second half display, one of the poorest I've seen for a very long time. It's not the end of the world, we haven't lost, but my expectation levels are a lot higher.

"There wasn't the urgency and the desire about us, and there were some harsh words said after the match. It's not very often they hear words like that from me because I try to be constructive, but I can accept a lot of things but not a lack of hunger or a lack of desire.

"We didn't have an edge and some of the stuff going on was criminal. It was almost like we were saying to Northampton 'come and attack us, come and put the ball into our box' and all that allied with a lack of thought at times led to a pretty poor second half of football.

"The number of silly fouls we gave away, the number of times we got caught offside, it was unacceptable, and from the position we were in at half-time,we threw the lead away.

"I apologise to the supporters that were here today because that wasn't the real Bristol Rovers, especially in the second half."
