WE MUST BE PROFESSIONAL - PIPE

Posted on: Sat 26 Jan 2008

David Pipe says Rovers must be professional when they face Barnet for a place in the last 16 of the FA Cup this afternoon.

The Pirates take on the Underhill side just four days after knocking Premier League strugglers Fulham out of the competition.

David believes Rovers will be slight favourites to progress with the bookmakers, but he says that will count for nothing if the attitude isn't right on the pitch.

"We will go there and try to be professional and to try and get the right result," David told bristolrovers.co.uk, "We are looking forward to the game and we will enjoy it, but we can't underestimate Barnet because they have some very good players.

"You can't afford to start thinking about round five - Fulham were probably thinking about the next round when they drew us, but look at them now. We have got to go to Barnet and treat the game the same as we've treated the last few matches and the two Fulham games."

Although David is fully focused on getting today's job done, he knows there will be some degree of excitement amongst both sets of fans about the prospect of making the fifth round.

"I've had a few big games in the third round before, but if we can get past Barnet it will be the furthest I've been," he said, "We'll have almost 2,000 fans there with us, and we know they'll be louder than the home fans.

"If we do manage to get through I'm not too bothered about who we get, just being in the draw would be good. Liverpool were my team before - I went to every game for years and it would be nice to land them or a similar big tie, but it doesn't really matter."
