ORIENT FA CUP TIE POSTPONED

Posted on: Tue 20 Nov 2007

This evening's FA Cup round one replay between Rovers and Leyton Orient has been postponed.

Match referee Gavin Ward made the decision at 6:30pm after sustained heavy rain left the Memorial Stadium playing surface waterlogged.

Conditions in Bristol had worsened significantly throughout the afternoon and early evening, leaving the Surrey official with little choice but to call the match off.

Seven-inch holes dug into the pitch following Sunday's afternoon's rugby action weren't enough to drain away a build-up of excess water, and with 75 minutes to go before the game was due to start it became obvious that the ongoing rain would force the fixture to be written off.

It had initially been hoped that the conditions would ease as kick-off approached, but as 7:45pm became ever closer it became apparent that there would be no halt to the continued downpour.

The match has been rescheduled for the same time next week (Tuesday 27th November).

All existing matchday tickets remain valid.
