NO DESPERATE HURRY FOR TROLLS
Paul Trollope says there is no desperate hurry to add new faces to his Rovers squad.
The first team coach believes his current crop of players is good enough to compete and challenge in League One, and has been pleased with the majority of recent performances.
Speculation over possible transfer targets has been rife over recent weeks, but Paul has tempered suggestions that the club is on the verge of making formal bids for certain individuals.
"The situation is still ongoing," Paul told bristolrovers.co.uk, "We're still looking, we're still talking, but I think we've shown over the last week that we're in no desperate hurry to bring in a new face, although we would like to if the right person becomes available.
"Sean Rigg has formed a good partnership with Rickie Lambert and Richard Walker and Andy Williams are pressing hard from the sidelines, so we've got a lot of options within the squad. But that said we are still looking for that bit of quality, and hopefully it will be this week or next."
Stuart Fleetwood is one player Rovers have been linked with in the press, although Paul has played down talk of the Pirates signing the Forest Green Rovers front man.
"We are interested in anyone that scores goals, but in terms of formal bids it's not come to that stage and I don't think it will come to that stage," he said.
"But there are a lot of Premier League reserve games we're watching, and we don't want to bring in players at this level who aren't going to improve the squad.
"As at any football club you have to balance things, and not just financially, but in terms of numbers as well. You can't have three or four experienced players in the stands each week, and at the moment the budget and the size of the squad is ok.
"I've said to the players I'm happy with them all, and I've always had great belief in the group we've got here. There is no hurry and no panic, but if the right person comes along at the right time, with the right character and the right ability, then we will add it."
