STEVE IS BOOKED IN FOR COVER
Steve Book will take over Mike Green's role as number two goalkeeper for the next month or so.
Green broke his finger in Monday's reserve clash with Plymouth Argyle, leaving Rovers without recognised cover for Steve Phillips.
The blow means Book will step up from goalkeeping coach to become a registered player, and for the time being, first team coach Paul Trollope is happy with the situation.
"It's a blow for Mike, but hopefully he'll progress well and it'll only be four weeks out," Paul told bristolrovers.co.uk, "In the mean time we've got Steve Book registered and we've given him a squad number, and if the worst comes to the worst then maybe we'll use him.
"If Steve Phillips was going to be injured for any length of time we'd look at the situation differently, but at the moment he's as fit as a fiddle, touch wood, so this situation may just mean we don't have a goalkeeper on the bench for a few weeks.
"Steve Book is a fit lad, but goalkeeping is a specialist area and he hasn't played for a while. But he's done ok in training and from what I've seen of him we're happy for him to be our cover at the moment."
Book has been given squad number 33.
