David Pipe believes the positives outweighed the negatives from the first week of the 2007/08 season.

The midfielder has enjoyed a promising start to his Rovers career, and played a big part in the opening goal of Saturday's 1-1 home draw with Crewe Alexandra.

The Pirates currently sit in 14th place in the early League One table, and face Premier League side West Ham United in round two of the Carling Cup next week.

"I think it was a very good week," David told bristolrovers.co.uk, "It was the first week in a new division, and I think the positives outweighed the negatives by quite a lot.

"We haven't got six points, but then we haven't got none either. And the cup game, although it's on a different scale, saw us produce a really good performance to beat a side from a higher division.

"We're a bit disappointed because we feel we were better team against Port Vale and against Crewe, but at least we're not losing games. We're unbeaten, and we can take a lot of positives from our matches as we go forward.

"We'll keep plugging away in the league, and on a personal note I'm really happy to be involved. I don't mind where I'm being played, I'm just happy to do a job for the team."

Rovers will be live on Sky Sports next Tuesday evening as top flight West Ham look to avoid a cup upset at the Memorial Stadium.

"We heard the draw last Thursday evening, and then we got the news on Friday that we'd be live on Sky," said David, "It's a good stage for us to perform on, but we're not just going out there to make up the numbers.

"They are obviously favourites, but then Crystal Palace were favourites too. It's a step up for us, but we'll see what we can do."
