UNDER-18'S BEAT OXFORD

21 April 2015

Oxford Uniter 0-3 Bristol Rovers

Sat 18th April 2015

Second half goals from Laurent Davis-Wilson, Elliott Green and Blake Davies gave our U-18 side a 3-0 win against Oxford United in the final game of the season.

Unfortunately the win wasn’t enough to see them finish the campaign as Merit League Two Champions as Leyton Orient’s win against Cambridge United saw them finish a point clear of Alan Walsh’s side.

“We weren’t at our best in the first half, and didn’t play to our full potential” said Alan following the game.

“However we were stronger after the break and took the lead from the penalty spot, through Laurent Davis-Wilson. That seemed to calm us down and we went on to control the game.

“We might have doubled our lead when we were awarded a second penalty. On this occasion, though, the Oxford goalkeeper saved the spot kick taken by Blake Davies.

“We did score a second goal soon afterwards, through Elliott Green and wrapped the game up when Blake ran on to a good ball in from the right, got in front of his marker, and slotted the ball past the keeper.”

The win saw his side end the season with a 20 match unbeaten run; “It’s been a great run and the lads deserve a great deal of credit for the way they have gone about improving things after a poor start. Their ability and aptitude has seen them through and they have ended the campaign in fine style.”
