Midfield maestro Stuart Sinclair has said that he cannot thank the fans enough for their support since his move from Salisbury in the summer, and promises there is more to come from him.Sinclair completed his move from the Whites in June, becoming the second player to follow former boss Darrell Clarke after keeper Will Puddy, and is feeling right at home:
“I’ve only been a full time footballer two years so hopefully I can keep progressing, keep pushing myself, try and practice as much as possible and do extra where I can. I can’t thank the fans enough for looking after me, having not been at a big club before they’ve taken me under their wing.
“We as a team can’t thank the fans enough for the support they’ve given us, and if they’re disappointed I want them to show that, as well as if they’re elated I want them to show that too.”
Sinclair cannot wait to get out onto the pitch in Friday nights’ clash with Gateshead, and thinks it’s going to be quite the spectacle:
“We know they like to play and ours is a big pitch, so hopefully that will allow us to play more too, it won’t be such a tight game, they’ll come at us a bit which will mean we can have a go at them a bit as well.
“It’s a different situation to what it was at Welling, where they sat in a little bit more, hopefully Gateshead will come at us a little bit more and play.
“It should, well, it will be, a great game.”
The 27 year old is another at the club who sees Christmas as a potential season changing time, in which teams cement their intentions:
“We’ve got 4 games in about 10 days, so if you win all those it will be a massive boost, and everyone always says that’s the period you look at, once you’re done with Christmas, you look at where you are and that’s roughly where you’re looking at finishing, and it gives you that platform to push on.”
Sinclair is well adored by the fans, partly because of his impressive beard. This striking feature was voted as the second best beard in sport in a poll conducted by Beardwatch.com, without doubt with help from gasheads themselves. Sinclair though, is disappointed:
“The lads give me a bit of stick for it, but it’s awesome, it’s really good for me, but I don’t know how I didn’t come first!”
Thankfully, the beard isn’t going anywhere fast:
“The beard’s going to stay into the New Year, the fans say about shaving it off if we get promoted, but that’s another thing, we’ll have to wait and see for that.”
