SABADELL PRE-SEASON TOUR

23 November 2015

We aren’t even halfway through the current campaign, but already plans for pre-season 2016/17 are well underway.

The highlight of next summer will be a week’s training camp in Spain and a friendly fixture against Sabadell.

Rovers will spend five days in Spain, from 25th July - 29th July and play a friendly match against Sabadell on Tuesday 26th July (kick off 8.00pm)

Director Barry Bradshaw, who has been heavily involved in planning the tour and said; “We have been in discussions with representatives from Sabadell for a while now, and are delighted to be able to confirm all details.

"It has been a pleasure speaking to Antoni Reguant Ignacio, the owner of Sabadell, who has been very accommodating and supportive of our plans for next summer.

"Antoni came over to Bristol for our last league game of last season and was also at Wembley for the play off final and we are both hoping that this tour will be the start of a twinning arrangement with Sabadell and look forward to forging closer links with them in years to come.

"As many of our supporters are aware, we have an affinity with Sabadell given that they play in blue and white quarters. A number of our fans have been over to watch them play and a close friendship has developed between supporters of both clubs.

"We hope that by announcing details of our pre-season training camp and match against Sabadell now will give a number of supporters the opportunity of spending a week in Spain as part of their summer holiday next year.

"For those who will be travelling over to watch the match and take in some summer sun, the popular resort of Santa Susanna , situated an hour's drive from Sabadell is favoured by those supporters who have already made the trip.

"Antoni is investigating the possibility of providing subsidised transport from Santa Susanna to Sabadell for our match on the Tuesday, so I hope that as many supporters as possible will travel to see us in action before the start of the new season."

Manager Darrell Clarke welcomed the news of the training camp in Spain, saying; "I am grateful to Barry and the Board of Directors for making this trip possible.

"We often read about other clubs spending time abroad during pre-season and how much it benefits them once the season gets underway.

"I'm sure that we will benefit from the week long training camp just before the commencement of the 2016/17 season and look forward to our stay and our match against Sabadell."
